“But  what  about  you?”  he  asked.  “Who  do  you  say  I  am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

who  hold  to  the  testimony  of  Jesus.  Worship  God!  For  the  testimony  of  Jesus  is  the  spirit  of
prophecy.”

JONAH 1:1-10
 
 
1
 The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai:

 ”Go to the great city of Nineveh and
preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” 
 
3
 But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he
found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee
from the LORD. 
 
4
 Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship
threatened to break up.
5
 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they
threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. 
      But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
6
 The captain
went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice
of us, and we will not perish.” 
 
7
 Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this
calamity.” They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. 
 
8
 So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you
do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” 
 
9
 He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and
the land.” 
 
10
 This terrified them and they asked, “What have you done?” (They knew he was running away
from the LORD, because he had already told them so.)

“Who are you?”

Hebrews 2:5-11

 ⁵It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. ⁶But there is a place where someone has testified:  ”What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  ⁷You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor ⁸ and put everything under his feet.”  In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. ⁹But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. ¹⁰In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. ¹¹Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a
great contest in the face of suffering.
33
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and
persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.
34
You
sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because
you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. 
 
35
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36
You need to persevere so that
when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
37
For in just a very
little while, 
   “He who is coming will come and will not delay. 
   
38
But my righteous one will live by faith. 
    And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” 
  
39
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are

to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.”

 Moses said to
the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to
keep you from sinning.”
 Exodus 20:1-20
